Red Sox Scratch Refsnyder With Wrist Discomfort
Boston Red Sox infielder Rob Refsnyder was scratched from the lineup for Sunday's game against the Chicago Cubs due to discomfort in his right wrist.
Manager Alex Cora said Refsnyder is considered day-to-day going forward.
Refsnyder had been enjoying a hot streak of late, going 6-for-12 with two doubles and three RBIs in his last three games. His absence from the lineup is a blow to the Red Sox, who are already struggling to keep up in the American League East.
Refsnyder, 29, is batting .263 with four homers and 20 RBIs in 57 games this season. He has made starts at second base, third base, and left field.
With Refsnyder out of the lineup, Yolmer Sanchez is expected to start at third base. Sanchez is hitting .250 with two homers and 11 RBIs in 44 games this season.
The Red Sox are hoping Refsnyder's injury is not serious and that he can return to the lineup soon. They are currently in fourth place in the AL East, 5.5 games behind the first-place New York Yankees.
